KBRN, Jakarta: In a bold move to reduce reliance on imported Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), the Indonesian government is launching a major coal downstreaming initiative worth USD 10.25 billion in East Kutai, East Kalimantan. The project centers on converting coal into Dimethyl Ether (DME), a cleaner alternative to LPG, and is part of a broader national strategy to achieve energy self-sufficiency.
